Quite often in life, what appears to be a great deal may contain hidden costs. Damian’s message unpacks Luke 14: 25-35 – an oft-misunderstood passage. However, he clearly explains that whilst following Jesus can be costly, nothing is hidden but we do have everything to gain.
What separates Christianity from other religions? The answer is that Christians worship a God who is alive! The sermon focusses on John 20: 1-18 where Mary, Peter and John shockingly discover that the tomb is empty.
Jesus rode into Jerusalem with the sound of praises filling his ears. A few days later he would be standing before the same people as they shouted, “Crucify Him!” Rejected and alone. Are you a man pleaser or a God pleaser? Using Zechariah 9:9 as her source text, Allison points out that our mindset on who we try to please is an important factor in our lives. If we know that we are fully accepted by God, it makes a huge difference on how we cope with life ups and downs.
Continuing the series, Faye shows from Luke 8: 41-48 the contrast between two different situations. In both the women concerned encounter Jesus with miraculous outcomes. This should encourage us that we need just one touch from the King to make a difference in our lives.
The encounter that Zacchaeus had with Jesus teaches us that despite what other people think of us, Jesus accepts us as we are and will meet us if we seek Him out. (Apologies but the microphone cuts out momentarily in a few places)
Concluding the series, Damian preaches from 1 Timothy 6: 6-11 & 17-19 and 2 Corinthians 9: 10-11 to illustrate that generosity should be a fundamental part of the Christian life.
Damian continues to challenge the church to live ‘all in’ as we serve God by serving one-another. This message was followed by a Ministry Fayre. Below is a link to the booklet:
In the first of a new series, Damian speaks about the importance of serving others. Jesus came to serve and gave us an example to follow. Service is the outworking of our freedom in Christ and should be the instinct of every believer.
The story of Joseph reveals to us that nothing is random or unplanned. We can use this knowledge to fully realise that God has a plan for our lives even if at times we do not understand why. Damian speaks about how God redeems our suffering and what it looks like to live with God’s favour.
